Even If

So I just returned from las vegas for the NAB trade show and had a meeting with this company that is working on film restoration hardware/software. It turns out that the technical advisor is Brad Carvey, a guy I met more than 10 years ago at the same trade show. He was a writer for the previous magazine I edited. . . well anyway, Brad, who is Dana Carvey's older brother, and happens to be this full on intelligent braniac, was at one point in contact with Charles Harner, who is married to Jam Morales. I met Charles back in the mid 1980s when he and Jam came to visit my cousin Marlon in San Dimas CA. At any rate to get to the point, when I thought of Brad not being at the show, I immediately thought of Charles, and then Jam, so I typed Jam Morales into google and got a few hits, one of which was this YouTube clip

I knew Jam was a singer in the Philippines and I think she gave it up to move with her husband to the States. I used to get a Christmas card from them a long time ago but those have stopped as well. Which gets to my interesting youTube observation, adn that is of heartbreak stories tied to this song, and the remake by Lea Salonga. In the Lea version, there is a gal pouring her heart out over the guy who dumped her, and people leaving text comments, giving her words of encouragement, to forget that guy, he is ugly, you are beautiful, etc. etc. Really weird, but I guess its not really a surprise given news today of a Saudi Arabian divorcing his wife via text message

Sad state of tech affairs.

Now I wasn't even in the Philippines when Even If was a huge hit, but. . .
